Real Estate and Personal Property Assessments
The Actual Fiscal 2010 Preliminary Tax Bill will be mailed out on July 1st, 2009. The first payment will be due on August 3rd, 2009 and the 2nd payment will be due on November 2nd, 2009.
Abatements
Real estate abatements for FY2010 may only be filed in the 30 day period following the Actual tax bill being sent out. The Actual tax bill contains the assessment as well as the approved tax rate, the total tax amount due less any preliminary taxes paid. The Abatement period will run from January 1st to February 2nd, 2010.
Exemptions
Statutory exemptions on real estate property which include disabled Veterans, Legally Blind, Elderly Persons (65 years of age who qualify financially), Surviving Spouse,(any age who qualify financially) Minor Child, Elderly Person (70 years old). Qualifying persons must qualify on July 1 for the Fiscal year. Applications may be accepted beginning July 1st until a three month period following the mailing of the actual tax bill.
Excise Tax
Excise tax is due thirty days from the date mailed. If you do not have the vehicle listed on the bill and have either transferred or cancelled the plate, you need to notify this office. You may come in with a copy of your New Registration or Plate Cancellation or fax us at 508-883-7043 and we will process a refund if the bill is already paid. If it is unpaid, we will post an abatement to your present bill. Please call the office if you have any questions pertaining to your excise tax bill.
