Purpose
The Council on Aging (COA) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and providing comprehensive services for Blackstone residents age 60 and over. The COA Board consists of seven (7) members who are appointed by the Selectmen. The Board works with other town agencies and community service providers. Along with the Director, they are part of the municipal government and act as an advisory board overseeing and volunteering for projects aimed at identifying the total needs of the community's elder population, linking services to those needs, and improving the quality of life for our Seniors.

The regular meeting of the Council on Aging is held once a month on the first Thursday of the month at 10:00 AM in the Selectmen room on the main floor in the Blackstone Municipal Center.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the COA public meetings.

Outreach Program
Jean Doiron is the Outreach program coordinator. Jean is available to speak with you Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. Please feel free to call her at 508-876-5134 or by email at jdoiron@townofblackstone.org

The intent of outreach is to identify elders with unmet needs and to increase awareness and understanding of the support services available to them and their caregiver.

The outreach program identifies the needs of all residents 60 and over. Once the need is identified she provides information and referral services and links the appropriate agency to the need of the elder. In this fashion, the program is able to connect residents to agencies and services with the eldercare network and to make available up-to-date information and referrals.

All information that is gathered is held in strict confidence.

*Confidentiality is held as a priority.

The Nutrition Site Manager, Gail LeClair coordinates the volunteers who deliver the Meals on Wheels for homebound elders in Blackstone and Millville.

Van transportation is available for those who need it. Meals must be reserved at least 48 hours in advance.

Please call the Nutrition Site Manager, Gail LeClair at 508-876-5151 or email her at gleclair@townofblackstone.org
