Family Emergency Communications Plan
Develop a 'Family Emergency Communication Plan' in case family members are separated from one another during an emergency, such as a winter storm, hurricane, or any unexpected event (a real possibility during the day when adults are at work and children are at school), and have a plan for getting back together.

  • Ask an out-of-state relative or friend to serve as the 'family contact'. After a disaster, it is often easier to call long distance.
  • Make sure everyone knows the name, address and telephone number of the contact person.

WATER & FOOD
Find out how to store and prepare for at least three days of survival.

CLEAN AIR
Learn how to improvise with what you have on hand to protect your mouth, nose, eyes and cuts in your skin.

FIRST AID KIT
Knowing how to treat minor injuries can make a difference in an emergency. If you have these basic supplies you are better prepared to help your loved ones when they are hurt.

SUPPLY CHECKLISTS
Assemble clothing & bedding, tools and other basic supplies.

SPECIAL NEEDS ITEMS
Lists for those with special needs - babies, adults, seniors and people with disabilities.
