We also have a pooper law, which requires owners to clean up after their dogs. Dogs are not allowed in town parks or on school grounds. Dogs must be licensed and kept current with Rabies Vaccinations. Dog Licenses: license period is a calendar year, January 1 – December 31 each year. Licenses are available in the Town Clerk’s Office during regular working hours. Dog related laws are strictly enforced. Our purpose is to ensure the safety of the residents and the animals in the Town of Blackstone. Blackstone has an Animal Shelter. After many years of using a private kennel in Uxbridge,we have finally built our own. The shelter is located in the rear of the Recycling Center at 14 Chestnut Street, it provides a setting ideal for housing town animals. It is a small quaint shelter that houses 10 cats and 5 dogs comfortably, it has great potential for expansion in the future. It is somewhat secluded; insuring the comfort of the neighbors. Anyone wishing to view any animals that are up for adoption are asked to call the shelter and set up an appointment as the shelter is operated on an appointment only basis until further notice. The phone number is 508 883-9490. At the present time there is a selection of cats available for adoption. All cats have been vaccinated and vet checked. Watch for a full listing of all shelter animals on this site in the near future. |
